What this is

GiftCoves is a brand and product discovery site. It exists to make finding things fun rather than a chore you get through, whether you are buying for yourself or for someone else.

Most shopping sites are built for someone who already knows the answer. Type the model number, get the model. That works right up until you do not know what you are looking for, which is most of the time, and nearly always when you are buying for someone else.

So this one is built the other way round. It is good at "show me something I did not know existed", at "what do you get someone who likes cooking and hates gadgets", and at "what is worth looking at today".

What you can do here

Get surprised on purpose. A find of the day, an odd corner of the catalogue, the quietly excellent thing nobody advertises. Not the best-seller you have already seen four times.

Find a gift by describing a person. Not a category and not a price bracket, but a person. "My brother, into cycling, already owns everything obvious." Refine it, swap out anything that misses, keep what works.

Build a list, for yourself or for someone else. Share it and people can claim items from it, while the person it is for never sees what has already been bought.

Read today's Cove. One page a day: a theme, a handful of finds worth the scroll, and a price puzzle to play. Every past edition keeps its own page.

Browse the Coves. Longer reads built around a single theme, such as the desk reset, one good knife, or the fortnight before Halloween. Every brand and product in them is one click from the real thing.

Follow a brand. Every brand has a page with everything we carry from it and the Coves that mention it.

Scan a barcode. Standing in a shop with the box in your hand, point your camera at it and see what else is out there.

Get one email a day, if you want it. The theme, a few of the finds, and one link. One click to leave, permanently.

One product, one card

Most shopping sites show a row per listing, so eleven shops selling one pair of headphones become eleven results and you do the untangling.

Here they collapse into a single card for the actual product, with links to the shops that sell it. It is the least glamorous thing on this list and it is what makes the rest work: discovery is only enjoyable when the catalogue knows what things really are.

Some of the writing is AI-assisted

It is drafted by a language model and bounded by the catalogue. The model can only point at brands and products that exist here, and every number in the text is read off the page it appears on. Where a model writes, the facts around it are not the model's to invent.

How we make money

Affiliate commission. Follow a link from here to a shop, buy something, and that shop usually pays us a small percentage.

  • It never changes what you pay. The commission comes out of the shop's margin, not your total.
  • It does not decide what you see. The finds in a Cove are chosen for being worth finding, not for what they pay. We would rather be a site you come back to than one that earns more from a single visit.

We are not a shop. There is no basket here and no checkout. Every link goes to the retailer, and your order, payment, delivery and returns are between you and them. The terms set out what that means in practice.

What we will not do

  • Fake urgency. No countdown timers, no "3 people are viewing this", no invented scarcity.
  • Fake reviews. We do not have ratings, so we do not show any.
  • Sell your data. See the privacy policy. The short version is that your email is used to send you the thing you asked for, and nothing else.
  • Take payment for position. No shop pays to rank higher or to appear in a Cove. The terms set out exactly what decides the order, because EU law requires a service like this to say so and because it is worth knowing.
